Pilot Pagoda Super Landscape and Minka 1950’s Rare
Pilot Pagoda
This is a near mint example of a Pilot Super. What makes this pen special is the maki-e work. Features a gorgeous tree with a minka (a house of merchants and samurai) and nice gold togidashi. The design is very vibrant and the beautiful and majestically balanced tree makes this a very serene motif. The pen is near mint, there is no ultraviolet damage damage and the luster of the lacquer is just how it was made, surprisingly over 60 years ago. Special pen that will surely become very sought after. One of the benefits of 1950’s-1970’s pieces, is that you can stumble across the same artist that made the masterpieces of the 1920’s to 1930’s. The Artist in this case is Shoetsu Enomoto. He was born in 1905 and studied under Shobi Makizawa in the early 1920’s. I have seen many of his masterpieces of the 1930’s including grade AAA Dunhill Namiki pens.
